Norway princess's 28-year-old son Marius Borg Høiby suspected of 23 offences, including three rapes: Police

Norwegian police on Friday said Marius Borg Høiby , the 28-year-old son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit , is suspected of committing 23 offences, including three rapes, following a 10-month-long investigation that began after his arrest last August.

Høiby, who is the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit from a previous relationship and the stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, does not hold a royal title or perform official duties. He was arrested on August 4, 2024, after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, an incident that triggered further scrutiny and led to a growing list of serious allegations.

Charges include rape, violence, threats, and restraining order violations
According to police statements, Høiby is facing rape charges involving sexual acts committed against a person “who was unconscious or otherwise unable to resist,” BBC had reported. The alleged offences span multiple incidents involving at least five victims, including ex-girlfriends Julianne Snekkestad and Nora Haukland. He has denied the rape allegations.

In one case, police say he violated a restraining order, engaged in "maltreatment in close relationships," and committed acts of violence and criminal damage. He was arrested on August 4, 2024 while in a car with another alleged victim.

Investigators have also charged him with threatening a man, and driving without a valid license. His residence at Skaugum, near the official residence of the Crown Prince and Princess, was searched as part of the investigation.

Royal family declines to comment
The Norwegian royal palace has refused to comment on the case, maintaining silence since the initial arrest. The BBC reported last year that the palace similarly refrained from issuing a public statement when Høiby was first charged.

Police confirmed Friday that they have concluded their investigation, but did not say when the case might move forward in court.
