KENDRAPADA: Four hockey coaches were detained by police in Odisha's Jajpur district on Monday after a 15-year-old aspiring player, who had been training at the centre for the past two years, filed an FIR accusing them of raping her.
According to the FIR registered on Sunday night, the gang rape took place on the evening of July 3 after the conclusion of a coaching session at a local stadium. The survivor alleged that the accused, all in their 30s, took her to a lodge, where they overpowered and raped her. She alleged she was assaulted when she tried to resist the men, and was threatened with physical harm if she told anyone about the rape.
Police registered a case of gang rape under sections of BNS and Pocso Act , and launched an investigation. The survivor's statement was recorded in a court on Monday.
