Experts have issued a warning to air fryer owners about where they place their appliances in their kitchens. Air fryers have become game changers for many British households, simplifying the way many families and individuals make their meals throughout the week. From simple homemade air fryer pizza to no-effort crispy potatoes to succulent air fryer salmon, the possibilities are almost endless when you own an air fryer.
However, there are a few things people should know when they purchase and use these handy devices in their homes. Air fryers are a daily appliance for many Brits, used every day to make breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But there are some things that many people don't know when they are using their air fryer, and this lack of knowledge could lead to the device overheating and even catching on fire if they're not careful. According to health and safety experts at Direct365, it's important to know how to position your air fryer correctly.
Placing your air fryer to close to the walls of your kitchen can cause problems, the experts have warned. Air fryers have vents on the top, back and sides.
This means that there needs to be room for the hot air to escape the appliance when it is in use. By placing your air fryer near a wall, you reduce its ability to do this.
The experts said: "By placing your air fryer directly under a cupboard or too close to walls, this will trap heat and could cause your air fryer to overheat and become a fire hazard, while also risking damage to your cabinets."
They add: "For safety, make sure you have around 10cm clearance on all sides of your air fryer to avoid overheating."
There are a number of other safety hazards to be aware of when it comes to air fryers. As well as its placement, it is also important to know what you can and can't place inside these cooking devices.
Many people use baking paper in their air fryers to make cleaning them up after use easier. However, health and safety experts also warn against this, as the paper can get caught in the mechanisms and catch on fire.
