Tucked away in the Kent countryside is a lake so blue it could easily be mistaken for a Mediterranean paradise. St Andrew's Lakes, in Hailing, is home to 70 acres of crystal clear water, a sight out of place in its English countryside setting.
Born from a former quarry, these lakes are not just a feast for the eyes. They offer sandy beaches and a plethora of water activities suitable for all ages, offering a holiday-like experience just outside the M25. The lakes are a swimming venue, offering clear waters free from reeds or mud. In the summer months, the surface water can reach a comfortable 20C, attracting many indoor pool swimmers to enjoy the fresh air. During winter, the temperature drops to around 6C. For an extra bit of excitement, the lakes also feature a large aqua park with an inflatable obstacle course, which costs £25 per person. There are even plans to add a zipwire across the water in the future. With depths reaching up to 30 metres, the lake is perfect for scuba diving enthusiasts. Professional courses are even available for those wanting to learn how to hold their breath underwater.

For fishing aficionados, the lakes are a haven, especially for carp fishing. Home to approximately 500 fish, the lake has seen catches weighing up to 41 pounds. However, with space for only 25 anglers at a time, it's advisable to book your spot in advance.
The lakes have an average rating of 3.5 on TripAdvisor. One visitor said: "Just had my third visit here camping and paddle boarding.
