Traffic is building on one of the M6 after a horror multi-vehicle crash. One lane on the M6 northbound has been shut between Junction 43 near Carlisle, Cumbria, and J44.
The incident has caused around six miles of congestion to build up on the major motorway, with drivers warned to prepare for severe delays to their journeys.
National Highways said in a statement: "Traffic is held on the M6 northbound between J43 near Carlisle and J44 due to a multi-vehicle collision. Cumbria Roads Police and Ambulance are in attendance."
It is not yet clear whether there were any casualties.
