Viewers were left on the edge of their seats as the BBC's new gameshow, Destination X, geared up for the final. Following Darren's emotional departure, Judith, Josh and Saskia were battling it out for the eye-watering £100,000 cash prize. During the first round, the players were put to the ultimate test of memory and observation as they raced each other to search through the woodlands looking for clues pointing to their destination.
As the challenge ended, Josh gained an advantage as he left with two golden tickets, Saskia with one, while Judith returned to the coach empty-handed. Despite this, viewers had their hopes up for Judith after she admitted to the cameras that she knew the destination.
The contestant revealed: "After our challenge this morning, I was following the sun for a while. We'd gone east and then south, and there was something that was saying that we're back in Italy."
As her inclination was correct, fans were looking forward to Judith gaining an advantage by using her guess in the map room, but in a shock twist, the map room had been taken out of the final.
One fuming fan wrote: "Kind of annoying that there was no map room to guess the final #DestinationX..."
A second raged: "So Judith was the only one who knew they'd gone back to Italy but they've just revealed the final destination to them anyway and are now going to declare the winner through a stupid challenge?"
"#DestinationX is a great concept but they really managed to mess it up with stupid twists," remarked another.
Meanwhile, one viewer referenced a previous episode and added: " Judith following the sun... Nick would be proud #DestinationX."
Minutes later, host Rob Byrdon appeared on a screen to unveil the twist and unblur the windows to reveal they were in Rome, Italy and instead of using the map room, the players would have to trawl through the capital and look for clues for destination X.
Despite feeling defeated by the previous challenge, Judith pushed through and, eventually, gained an advantage and became faster than Josh and Saskia.
With encouragement from the previously eliminated contestants who made a surprise appearance near the clues, she worked out that Rob would be at the top of the famous Spanish steps and raced up the steep monument to find out she was the first one there.
In the emotional moment, Rob revealed that she had won the £100,000 with a glorious victory, beating Josh by 30 seconds and Saskia by two minutes and 35 seconds.
