A new BBC documentary will air never-before-seen details on the robbery of Kim Kardashian.
On BBC Three, The Kim Kardashian Diamond Heist, revisits the incident where the reality TV star was held at gunpoint and robbed of millions of dollars worth of jewellery in 2016. It includes interviews with family friends, police officers, and journalists, as well as revealing a new detail that had never been disclosed before.
Chief Inspector Michael Sleeckx of the Belgian police force, who was part of the investigation into the robbery, has now shared fresh insights into the surveillance operation of the 'grandpa robbers' which ultimately led to their arrest. This is the first time this additional information has been made public.
Sleeckx, who ran a team in the diamond district of Antwerp for over a decade, says his team were following alleged suspects Marceau Baum-Gertner, Aomar Aït Khedache and Christiane 'Cathy' Glotin when they met in a McDonald's in Antwerp.
Sleeckx recalls Baum-Gertner putting his hand towards Aomar as if to shake it, but when Aomar nodded slightly in response, Baum-Gertner put his hand back down, as if to say "we know each other, but we don't know each other. Not in public. I recall very strongly that Mr. Aomar was very, very cautious."
The trio then walked inside a jewellery shop known as a hotspot for buying stolen goods, where they stayed for four hours. He believes a deal was negotiated to sell the jewellery there.
He added that they saw "somebody who's known as a big, big money launderer and who has a lot of cash money, going with a full backpack into a garage [near the jewellery shop], meeting the jeweller at the same moment and comes out after ten seconds without a backpack."

Admitting it was "out of the ordinary" that it became "something major", the show also focuses on friend of the Kardashians, Heather McDonald who reveals the impact of the crime on the family.
Speaking about Kris Jenner's birthday party after the incident, she told the BBC: "That was the first time I ever saw her come to a dinner with a private security guard, which I thought was wise."
She added: "And he just, like sat at a table, you know, just kind of staring, making sure everything's safe, the sense I got from Kris is, just still very shaken up. Very serious."
Last month, Kim faced her robbers in court, where eight people were found guilty. Now, viewers will be able to watch the documentary today (June 25) on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.
The Kim Kardashian Diamond Heist is on BBC Three at 9pm tonight (Wednesday, June 25) and on BBC iPlayer from 6am the same day.
