Mahaaryaman Scindia, son of Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, officially assumed charge as the new President of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) on Tuesday. At just 29 years old, Mahaaryaman now leads the prestigious cricket body, following his appointment during MPCA’s Annual General Meeting.

Ceremony Highlights

The oath-taking ceremony saw the presence of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who himself is a former MPCA president. Several members of the MPCA also attended the event. Dressed in a formal suit, Mahaaryaman was welcomed with a ceremonial red tilak and a shawl, presented by his father as a gesture of honor and affection.

Third Generation of Scindias to Lead MPCA

With this appointment, Mahaaryaman becomes the third generation of the Scindia family to head the cricket association. His grandfather, Madhavrao Scindia, served as MPCA President from 1982 to 2001, while Jyotiraditya Scindia held the same post from 2004 to 2019. Afterward, senior journalist Abhilash Khandekar, backed by Jyotiraditya, took charge. Now, Mahaaryaman replaces Khandekar to carry forward the family legacy.

Visit to Khajrana Ganesh Temple

Before officially taking charge, Mahaaryaman and his father visited the famous Khajrana Ganesh Temple in Indore. The duo offered prayers and sought blessings. Sharing the moment on social media, Jyotiraditya Scindia wrote, “Today, I began my Indore visit with darshan and worship of Siddhivinayak Prabhu at Khajrana Ganesh Temple. Taking divine blessings before every auspicious work is not only our tradition but also part of my family’s faith and heritage.”

Mahaaryaman Scindia’s Journey

Prior to becoming MPCA President, Mahaaryaman served as Vice-President of the Gwalior division and was instrumental in launching the Madhya Pradesh League. His election to the top post was uncontested.

Mahaaryaman completed his schooling at the prestigious Doon School and later graduated from Yale University, USA. Along with his passion for cricket, he is also known for his keen interest in music.
