Karwa Chauth, a festival cherished in Hinduism, will be celebrated on October 10, 2025. On this auspicious day, married women fast from sunrise and break their fast only after sighting the moon in the evening. Before sunrise, women consume a pre-dawn meal called Sargi, traditionally gifted by the mother-in-law, to help sustain them through the fast.
Dietitian Mohini Dongre advises choosing foods rich in vitamins, minerals, and fiber for Sargi to maintain energy levels throughout the day. Avoid eating foods that cause acidity or rapid energy depletion.
Recommended Sargi Foods:-
Fruits for Hydration: Include apples, bananas, coconuts, and oranges as they have high water content, preventing dehydration during the fast.
-
Curd Instead of Sweets: Although sweets are customary during Sargi, it’s better to opt for yogurt as it provides energy and keeps the body cool, without spiking insulin levels.
-
Nuts and Dates: Nuts contain healthy fats that keep you full and energized, while dates aid digestion and help prevent constipation during fasting.
-
Protein-Rich Options: Incorporate paneer, lentil sprouts, and soy to ensure sustained energy through protein intake.
Preparing a balanced Sargi plate with these foods will help women observe the fast comfortably while keeping their energy intact for the whole day.
Karwa Chauth 2025 Date and Timings:According to the lunar calendar, Karwa Chauth will be observed on October 10, 2025. The fast starts on October 9 at night and concludes on the evening of October 10 after the moonrise, which will occur at approximately 7:42 PM. The auspicious time for puja is from 5:16 AM to 6:29 PM on October 10.
