Prince William surprised Eugene Levy with 'personal' admission as he reveals what royal is like

Schitt's Creek star Eugene Levy has revealed that he was "honestly surprised" by how candid Prince William was in his upcoming series of The Reluctant Traveller.

Appearing on The One Show tonight, the Canadian actor spoke about an upcoming episode in which Prince William gives him a tour around Windsor Castle. Speaking to hosts Vernon Kay and Alex Jones, Eugene said: "I assume he had to be somewhat familiar with me or what I've done to have done the show.

"That makes me feel pretty darn good and the idea that he could spend the day and have such a lovely, informal, casual kind of conversation was really, really incredible."

He also revealed that the royal made an entrance that made him rethink his assumptions about the monarchy. "From the moment he entered the compound on his scooter, I knew things were not going to be what I thought they were going to be when it comes to the monarchy," he laughed.

"He was setting a tone that made things very easy. He was an extremely gracious host."

Eugene added that Prince William was also incredibly open during their chat.

"Conversation came very easily, I could ask any question that I wanted. There weren't any dos and dont's for me, which is kind of daunting going into it," he said.

"But right off the bat, he made me feel so comfortable and at ease that conversation seemed welcome. He was quite open about talking about things that quite honestly surprised me. He got into personal things and I really did feel good about that the fact that he was this comfortable with me.

"Having that kind of intimate conversation with him - I think we all felt good on The Reluctant Traveller that he chose this show to have a conversation that really went above and beyond what he would normally do."

In a clip of The Reluctant Traveller shared exclusively by The Mirror yesterday, Prince William opened up to Eugene about “missing" both of his late grandparents.

Asked by the actor if he missed Queen Elizabeth, who died in September 2022 shortly after celebrating her platinum jubilee, and her husband Prince Phillip, whose death had come 17 months earlier, he agreed that he did.

"I do actually, yeah, I do miss my grandmother, and my grandfather,” he told the Canadian, who appeared in the American Pie movies during the early 2000s.

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
