DIY expert Glen Peskett at circular saw provider, Saxton Blades has revealed thatcleaning your fridge coils,a quick job most people never think to do, can slice your electricity bills annually and it’s all because of a fridge coil.
"Fridge coils are hidden away at the back or underneath, so most people don’t even realise they’re there, let alone that they get clogged up with dust," he said.

"When they’re dirty, your fridge has to work much harder to keep food cold, which means it’s using more electricity and costing you more money," he added
But one simple trick could save hundreds a year - and it only takes a few minutes; however before you need to know what a fridge coil is.
What is a fridge coil?It’s a component in the fridge’s cooling system which is responsible for either absorbing heat from the inside (the evaporator coils) or releasing heat to the outside (the condenser coil)
Turn off and safely unplug your fridge
Pull your fridge away from the wall
Locate the coils (usually at the back or underneath behind a grille)
Vacuum away dust with a narrow brush attachment or a crevice attachment for large debris
Then wipe down carefully with a cloth
Replace the panel
Lastly, plug your fridge and slide it back in place
Now you know to clean your fridge coil - start as soon as because the upcoming Autumn season is the perfect time. "With colder weather and heating season just around the corner, tackling it now means your fridge will run more efficiently, helping to cut bills and extend its lifespan," Glen added.
