A Liverpool VIP party bus, owned by ex-Brookside actor Philip Olivier's Liverpool City Sights, has been removed from operation following a collision with a bridge in Wigan yesterday which resulted in damage to its upper deck. The incident occurred with no passengers on board when a new driver deviated from the authorised route.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, but the bus is undergoing repairs. Speaking to the ECHO, a representative for Liverpool City Sights confirmed: "We can confirm that one of our vehicles, a converted VIP party bus operated by Liverpool City Sights, was involved in a low-speed incident on the evening of July 9 in Wigan, during which the vehicle struck a low bridge while travelling at approximately 5mph.

"There were no passengers on board at the time, and no injuries occurred." They explained: "The vehicle was being driven by a newly-appointed driver who did not follow the approved route."
The spokesperson continued with details of the aftermath stating: "The incident caused damage to the upper front section of the vehicle's top deck, and the bus has been withdrawn from service as a precaution, pending repairs," reports the Liverpool Echo.
However, they assured customers: "We would like to clarify that no customer bookings have been cancelled.
"All affected customers have been contacted directly, and alternative arrangements have been made to ensure their experience is unaffected."
Concluding, they said: "Liverpool City Sights is cooperating fully with the relevant authorities and is conducting a thorough internal review."
Philip Olivier, the actor and entrepreneur, has issued a statement following the incident: "We remain committed to ensuring the highest levels of safety, accountability, and customer service. We appreciate the public's understanding and ongoing support."
Philip, who is best known for his role as 'Tinhead' in the soap opera Brookside, is the founder and CEO of Liverpool City Sights, a company that operates various tours around Liverpool.
In addition to his tour business, Olivier is also the owner of the Daffodil restaurant, a converted Mersey Ferry that is now berthed in Canning Dock in the heart of Liverpool.
The restaurant, which opened in December, offers a unique dining experience, with the Promenade bar area located on the upper deck and the 126-cover restaurant situated on the main floor. Booking in advance is essential for diners.
