Due to the changing lifestyle, many things are changing rapidly these days. Same is the case with men as well, some of them are not able to become fathers. Let us tell you why this is so?

Every couple dreams of starting a family, but this path is not easy for everyone. Recently, the World Health Organization (WHO) and many medical studies have revealed that about 1 in 6 men around the world is facing the problem of infertility. That is, if you think that problems in pregnancy are only related to women, then this is a misconception. Research clearly says that men are also an equally big reason.
What does the research say?
According to WHO and many international medical journals, infertility is not limited to women only. In 40 to 50 percent of cases, pregnancy is not possible due to men. There are many reasons behind this. Lifestyle, dietary mistakes, alcohol-cigarette consumption, stress and not getting tested on time.
Major reason for infertility in men
- Smoking and alcohol: These habits reduce both the quality and quantity of sperm.
- Nutritional deficiency: Deficiency of vitamin D, zinc and folic acid also affects sperm production.
- Stress and lack of sleep: Constant stress causes hormonal imbalance, which decreases fertility.
- Overweight or obesity: Research shows that obesity reduces testosterone levels.
- Avoidance of testing: Many men do not get tested due to shame or hesitation, due to which treatment starts late.
Why is fertility testing necessary?
According to doctors, if there is no success in pregnancy even after trying for 1 year, then both the man and the woman should definitely get fertility testing done. This helps in catching the problem early and increases the possibility of treatment through advanced techniques like IVF, IUI.
Support and awareness needed
Couples struggling with infertility often feel lonely. In such a situation, the support of family and friends matters a lot. Experts believe that it is very important to break the social stigma around infertility. The problem can be solved by talking openly and consulting a doctor in time.
Expert opinion
Dr. Prashant Singh, Andrologist at AIIMS, New Delhi, says, "Today, one in every six men is struggling with the problem of infertility. The biggest reason for this is wrong lifestyle. But the good thing is that with timely testing, proper treatment and healthy lifestyle, treatment is possible in most of the cases."
