Mumbai: The Customs officers on Friday arrested a 28-year-old Koparkhairane, Navi Mumbai resident for allegedly importing a consignment containing MDMA drugs from Germany.
According to the Customs sources, one imported packet addressed to a Koparkhairane based residence and being imported through Foreign Post Office (FPO), Ballard Estate, Mumbai was intercepted and examined by the Customs officials on 06.06:2025 which resulted in recovery of 48 grams of brown substance purported to MDMA drugs.
The Customs officers caught one K.T. Hemwani when he arrived at the post office to collect the said parcel on Thursday. Thereafter, Customs officers carried out search at the residence of the accused and recovered 33 grams of MDMA in crystal form and cash Rs 73,000.
In his statement to Customs, Hemwani said that he went to post office for collecting parcel on the instructions of his relative and he receives Rs. 20000-30000 per parcel for collecting narcotic drugs parcel. He already got Rs. 20000/- for receiving parcel seized by the Customs.

He also said that previously, he received four such imported parcels containing narcotic drugs. Further investigation is on to unearth the role of accused in the whole conspiracy and gathering crucial evidence and to investigate role of the accused in import of the said parcel, and check his past import details through Foreign Post Office, Mumbai. Further, it is possible that there might be an international crime syndicate behind this, which is smuggling contrabands into India," said a Customs source.
