New Delhi: Ahead of the assembly elections in Bihar, the BJP has lined up an extensive campaign over the next two and a half months, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to take the lead.
"Prime Minister Modi has addressed six rallies in the state so far, and several more programmes are lined up in the coming days," a Bihar BJP leader told ET. BJP leaders said Modi will address one rally in each of the nine divisions of Bihar, covering over 200 assembly segments.
Of the planned nine rallies, Modi has already addressed two - in Rohtas and Saran divisions - while the remaining seven will be held over the next two and a half months. The final dates and locations are under discussion and are expected to be announced within a week.
The campaign is scheduled to conclude in September, just ahead of the formal announcement of the state elections. BJP sources told ET the outreach is aimed at energising party workers ahead of the poll campaign.
Currently, BJP workers are conducting door-to-door visits to identify new voters and are assisting with voter registration. In addition to PM Modi's events, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also expected to visit the state three to four times during the campaign.
