How to confirm RAC seat?
Today we will talk about how if your ticket remained in RAC i.e. Reservation Against Cancellation till the chart is prepared, then how to know whether you will get full seat during the journey? Let us understand this.
RAC ticket means that you have not got the full berth, rather one seat has to be shared between two passengers. In such a situation, after the chart is prepared, you can check the status through your PNR number. Check by entering PNR in the 'Check PNR Status' option on the IRCTC website.
However, there are many such provisions in Indian Railways which provide passengers the facility of booking vacant seats digitally and offline after the chart is prepared.
If your ticket is confirmed from RAC, then the TTE will give you information about the new berth. If the ticket is still RAC, then the TTE will try to allocate you the full berth based on availability.
Apart from this, you will see a feature called Chart/Vacancy on the official website or app of IRCTC. Through this feature, you can get a confirmed ticket in a running train even after the chart is prepared.
Let us tell you that through this feature, the passenger can find out how many seats are vacant in the sleeper or AC coach of the train. Through this information, you can contact the TTE and get a ticket from them.
