Jamie Gittens to Chelsea transfer update as shock Jhon Duran approach made after 'secret talks'

Send Push

Chelsea are back in action this weekend as they look to get their hands on another piece of silverware. The Blues will lock horns with Benfica at the Bank of America Stadium on Saturday night in the last-16 of the Club World Cup.

While Enzo Maresca puts his players through their paces ahead of another difficult clash, he'll be hoping his higher-ups are working overtime to bolster his squad. Chelsea still need to sign a new left winger, a goalkeeper and some back-up for Marc Cucurella.

There's a lot of work to be done, but the west Londoners have plenty of time to welcome new faces to Stamford Bridge. So, with that being said, football.london has rounded up the latest Chelsea news and gossip;

Chelsea close in on Gittens transfer

According to the likes of Fabrizio Romano, Kaveh Solhekol at Sky Sports and Ben Jacobs, Chelsea are now close to agreeing a deal with Borussia Dortmund to sign Jamie Gittens. The 20-year-old winger has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for a while now, following his impressive performances in the Bundesliga.

It's said that Gittens is currently waiting for permission to undergo a medical after agreeing a seven-year contract with the Blues. Widespread reports reckon that the two clubs are currently in advanced talks over the structure of the transfer, with discussions now moving quickly.

football.london says: "Jamie Gittens is a good signing for Chelsea. Enzo Maresca has longed for an electric touchline winger, and the Borussia Dortmund ace looks to be exactly what he's been after. Top business."

Former Chelsea target is back on the market

According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, Fenerbahce are pushing on to sign Jhon Duran. The 21-year-old striker was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea before jetting off to the Middle East and joining Al-Nassr.

The report claims that Duran is very open to returning to Europe and joining the Turkish giants. It's said that the new sporting director at Fenerbahce, Devin Özek, is currently in Colombia to lead negotiations.

Plettenberg adds that Mourinho wants to sign the former Aston Villa striker - and they've already enjoyed direct talks. Fenerbahce are now reportedly working on agreements.

football.london says: "This is very clever from Fenerbahce. They've kept their cards close to their chest, holding secret talks behind the scenes. Jhon Duran is back on the market it seems...

"Chelsea should reignite their interest in the Colombian and try to hijack the transfer. For a reasonable fee, Duran would be a much better option than someone like Benjamin Sesko or Hugo Ekitike, who both command eye-watering fees."

Chelsea eye forgotten Barcelona star

According to Give Me Sport, Chelsea are weighing up a move for Marc-Andre ter Stegen this summer. The 33-year-old goalkeeper faces an uncertain future at Barcelona following the arrival of Joan Garcia from Espanyol - and the contract extension of Wojciech Szczesny.

The report claims that the Blues are monitoring Ter Stegen's situation at the Camp Nou. The Germany international, who has three years left on his deal, missed a large chunk of last season after suffering a serious knee injury.

Szczesny was excellent in his absence, helping the Catalan giants win La Liga. Give Me Sport add that Chelsea are in no rush to sign a new shot-stopper, but they are considering it.

football.london says: "Chelsea need a world-class goalkeeper. I'm afraid Marc-Andre ter Stegen no longer fits that profile. The Blues need to go after Mike Maignan. A stop-gap until Mike Penders is ready."
